A HOUSING development company will start consultations next week on a new plan which could lead to its third big development in the town.

Fairview Homes already has planning permission to build 59 dwellings on the land at Coombelands and has an application pending with North Herts District Council for the building of 27 homes at Thackeray Close.

Now, it is opening talks on a third site – on land near Betjeman Road – which could be the biggest yet.

Fairview initially submitted the application in autumn 2009, but withdrew it after a backlash from residents.

Jayne Bratton, chair of North Royston Action Group, said: β€œThe North Royston Action Group will go along to listen and look at the options. We will then read all the detail behind any application to ensure that it is the best it can be for Royston.

A public consultation will be held at a later date.
