IWM Duxford’s rare Handley Page Victor XH648 was moved from the Conservation Hall in AirSpace to the Conservation in Action hangar, where extensive conservation work will be undertaken on the aircraft over the next three to five years.
After removing the tail plane and the fin from the aircraft, IWM Duxford’s Conservation Team carefully maneuvered the Victor onto the airfield and along the concrete taxiway, before bringing it back onto the museum site and into the Conservation in Action hangar – where it will remain for the duration of the conservation project.
Visitors will be able to see work progress on the Victor’s conservation as they explore the hangar.
Conserving the Victor for future generations cannot take place without the assistance of a public appeal. In order to fully conserve the Victor, the musem needs to raise a total of £450,000.
