Fire crews were called at 7.56am on Tuesday and discovered the car alight.

Commuter Patrick Flicker, a member of Royston Photographic Society, who saw the fire on his way to work, said: "The fire was really going, I stood on the opposite side of the road encase it was going to blow up."

Mr Flicker, a member of the Royston Photograph Society, took The Crow's dramatic picture of the scene.

A spokesman for Herts Fire Service said that the cause of the fire was believed to be accidental.
