ONE of the pioneers of Royston’s revived arts festival has received a community service award.
The Royston Rotary Club gave the award to Kathy Wholley for her outstanding contribution to the local community.
She was given the honour at a special dinner held at Bluntswood Hall.
Ms Wholley resurected the arts festival in 2007, and has helped the event blossom into a fixture on the Royston calendar.
This year it takes place from September 23 - 26.
The dinner also saw David Izod, outgoing president of the Rotary Clubn, welcome Jonathan Berks in as the new president for 2010/11.
Mr Berks said: “I’d like to thank David and his committee for all their hard work over the year and I promise to maintain the fine traditions of Rotary International.”
The Rotary Club of Royston meet weekly on Tuesday evenings at the Royston Golf Club. Any one interested in learning more about Rotary and the club should visit the club’s website at www.roystonrotary.com or by emailing email@example.com.
