Students from a college have raised thousands of pounds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
The money, which has been donated to the charity, has been raised by students from Bassingbourne Village College over the past six months through a variety of fund raising activities.
These began at the end of last term when the whole school set off to complete a 10 mile sponsored walk from Bassingbourn to Ashwell and back again on a blistering hot day with thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast.
The walk alone raised £2,500 and this has been added to during this term through table top sales and a non-uniform day.
Judith Anderson, who collected the cheque on behalf of the Trust, said she was taken aback by the amount raised which would be a welcome boost to the Trust’s funds.
