A £3 MILLION sports centre could be erected at Bassingbourn Village College.
The college has submitted the ambitious plan to Cambridgeshire County Council for a sports hall, gym, all-weather turf playing surface, a car park and internal changes to the college's dining hall.
Head teacher Scott Hudson said: "It is something we have been planning to do for a while not just for the school, but also for the community. There's no other indoor sports hall in the local area."
The project has taken two-and-a-half-years to reach the planning stage following consultations.
The project would be funded by the county council. South Cambridgeshire District Council has offered a grant of £350,000 towards the project.
