ORGANISERS of the Thriplow Daffodil weekend are confident the flowers will be blooming by Saturday.

The 42nd annual Thriplow Daffodil Weekend takes place on Saturday and Sunday, but the cold winter experienced in the area this year had left the appearance of the flowers in doubt.

But Lynne Turner from the festival organising committee said: "We've had a warm week which has done wonders for the plants, and plenty of them are ready to flower.

"We may not have the full display we have had in recent years, but the village is looking very colourful with many other plants in flower, and the weekend promises to be as spectacular as ever."

Events will run from 11am- 5pm on both days at locations around the village.

They include a display from the Raptor Foundation, Morris dancers, and workshops in the arts marquee.

Locally produced food and drink will also be on sale.

Entry is £5 for adults and £2.50 for children, with youngsters under school age going in free.

Proceeds from the festival will be going to the Arthur Rank Hospice.

More details can be found on the village website, www.thriplow.org.uk
