A 10-year-old from Royston is chuffed to bits that a computer programme he created has been sent to the International Space Station ready to be used by British astronaut Tim Peake.
Amaideo Page-John was ‘highly commended’ at the KS3 national Astro Pi competition, and was delighted to find out that his Rasberry Pi programme would be sent up to space along with the winner’s code.
Amaideo has autism spectrum disorder and ADHD, but is already an expert programmer.
He does most of his work on the Raspberry Pi, a programmable credit card-sized computer.
In the future, he aims to write useful programmes that make complex programming tasks easier for inexperienced people, or to programme medical equipment.
His mother Eleanor said: “We were really surprised and excited when we found out. Amaideo works hard at his programming projects, and I’m pleased that’s he’s found something he enjoys doing so much, that he can make a career out of when he grows up.”
