Classic cars roll into Barrington for May meet-up

More than 100 cars rolled into Barrington on Friday evening for their monthly classic car meet.

The show, on the village green opposite the Royal Oak pub, was run by of Monty Goding for more than 40 years, but has continued to thrive without a designated organiser for the past year.

Classic car enthusiast Rod Kennedy, who also sits on Royston Town Council, said: “It was quite good – and bloody freezing!

“There must have been more than 100 cars there, a good selection of classics.

The diverse range of models included Rolls Royces,Lexus IS, a 1946 MG and Mr Kennedy’s own 1973 Triumph Stag.

“There is quite a wide catchment area, and lots of people go along,” he said.

“We met people who come from the other side of Ely. We go along to most of the events. There is a surprising number of classic cars in the Royston area.”

The meets are on the first Friday of the month from April to September.
