There was lots of excitement at Royston & District Museum and Art Gallery on Saturday as staff and visitors were joined by Civil War pikemen and musketeers.
Visitors were treated to demonstrations of military drills and muskets being fired, at the museum in Lower King Street.
Young and old could see traditional 17th century domestic and military uniforms and equipment, and there was a trail for kids. The museum’s 1855 Columbian printing press – used to print the first Crow – had a companion on the day, as the re-enactors brought along their 17th-century printing press to demonstrate.
Upcoming events at the museum include ‘cave craft’ on Wednesday next week, and the following Wednesday, August 15, the craft activity will be on ‘prehistoric Royston’.
Both events are on from 10.30am to 12 noon, its £3 per child, and there is no need to book in advance.
