Enterprising teenagers have been busy creating a new garden for a village school.
The group of 15 students from Freman College in Buntingford have spent weekends clearing an overgrown area at Hormead School.
They moved quantities of earth, levelled the surface, pegged down weed-proof lining and spread gravel. They have now assembled and installed wooden planters which the children will plant with flowers and vegetables. All the students are part of the National Citizenship Service (NCS) programme, which encourages young people to do positive work in their communities. North East Herts MP Oliver Heald visited the group last week to inspect their work.
Mr Heald said: “The project at Hormead School is an excellent example of the NCS and I congratulate all those involved.”
