A VILLAGE church turned into a bookworms paradise at the weekend.
St Mary’s Church in Ashwell was filled with thousands of books of all shapes and sizes for Ashwell’s book weekend.
Now a firm fixture on the village calendar, the annual sale of fiction and non-fiction titles is into it’s 13th year, and attracted hundreds of people over the two days.
Organiser Carolyn Lush said the money raised would go to the Church Restoration Fund.
She said: “This year we think we’ve raised about 3,500, which is a little bit up on last year. The church is made of soft clunch stone, so there’s always something that needs doing.”
