ONE of Hertfordshire's premier artists is exhibiting at a pub.

The Plough in Shepreth is to play host to work by Graham Boyd.

Mr Boyd has exhibited extensively throughout the UK, Spain, Portugal, Holland, and America.

He has taught at institutions across the country, and was principal lecturer in Fine Art at St Albans School of Art, now part of the University of Hertfordshire, between 1976 and 1993.

Throughout his long career in painting and teaching, he has been influential and inspirational to students and younger artists alike, and critics have praised his work for expressing a "committed and exposed courage, which confounds the normal visual expectation of spatial experience in painting".

The Plough's commission from all the work sold will be donated to the charity Home-Start, which offers informal and friendly support for families with young children in Royston and South Cambridgeshire.

A private view of the exhibition is taking place on Wednesday, January 21, from 6.30pm.

There will be a chance to meet the artist, while classical cellist Anna Scott will be playing.
