THE Marie Curie Cancer Care charity is looking for volunteer collectors to help on Daffodil Day. Hundreds of volunteers will be collecting cash for the charity on Saturday, March 18. But more volunteers are needed, said Nicky Hastler, fund-raising manager for Herts and south Essex. "There are collection sites all over Herts and, on average, just two hours handing out daffodils in exchange for a suggested £1 donation will raise enough money to pay for a night of nursing care," she said. "By getting involved, volunteers will be helping terminally-ill cancer patients." Ms Hastler said she was hoping collections this year in the area would break last year's Daffodil Day record of £51,000. For more details on volunteering, call Nicky Hastler on 01920 468956 or you can e-mail nicola.hastler@mariecurie.org.uk - The appeal is a month-long campaign to raise money for the Marie Curie Nursing Service. This provides nursing care that enables terminally-ill cancer patients the choice of remaining at home.
