IF YOU fancy taking part in a new production of a classic comedy/whodunit, now is your chance.

Following their highly successful open-air Shakespeare production of Twelfth Night, Corvus Amateur Drama Society (CADS) are already preparing for their next production, which will be staged during the Royston Arts Festival in September.

The group has chosen to perform the Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery by David McGillivray & Walter Zerlin Jnr.

A spokesman for CADS said: "If you were lucky enough to see their hilarious production of the Farndale Christmas Carol a few years ago, you'll know roughly what to expect.

"The formidable Phoebe Reece, perennial leading lady Thelma Greenwood and put-upon stage manager and reluctant thespian Gordon Pugh once more tread the boards, this time to perform a classic whodunit, though perhaps not as it was intended by its author.

"The production is dogged by problems of set, lighting and sound effects, but Mrs Reece still gets to involve the audience in one of her popular quizzes and even manages to have the last word when one of the cast is suddenly called away just before the dnouement," he said.

Emma Daintrey will be in the directors' chair once more, and the dates for performance are Friday 25 and Sunday 27 September.

A read-through - which is open to all, whether or not you think you might like to take part - takes place at 7.30pm on Wednesday 3 June at Greneway School, and there will be an open audition, also at Greneway, on the following Monday, 8 June, again at 7.30pm.
