A SCHEME set up to help people suffering from long-term mental health problems is seeking volunteers in the Royston area.

The Friendship Scheme for Mental Health is funded by Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and arranges social activities for people who are recovering from mental-health difficulties.

Volunteers befriend these people and take them out for a range of activities, including shopping, coffee, country walks, swimming, and the cinema.

The scheme is looking for volunteers in Royston, Ashwell, and the surrounding villages, who can spare two or three hours a week or fortnight.

Full out of pocket expenses, including fuel, fares, entrance fees, and cost of snacks can be claimed.

If you are interested in volunteering, call Alison Kingman on 01462 680120 for an information pack, or e-mail friendshipscheme@hertspartsft.nhs.uk.
