TWO war time sweethearts have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
David and Doris Little, of Cedar Crescent, Royston, met while working on a farm during the second world war. They have now been married for 60 years, and marked the occasion with a family party.
Mrs Little, 82, said: "I was in the land army and David was head herdsman at the farm where I was working. We just hit it off straight away."
The couple moved around in the early days of their marriage, spending time in Watton-at-Stone and Salisbury before settling in Royston when Mr Little, 83, got a job at a nearby farm. They have three children and two grand children.
On the secret of their long and happy marriage, Mrs Little said: "We've just always got along ever so well - even today we still do everything together.
"If he's doing something in the garden he'll call me out if he needs a hand. We've always worked well together since we were on the farm and I think we always will.
