MORE THAN 100 children enjoyed a bright and positive alternative to Halloween at a Light Party.

The event, at the Coombes Community Centre, was organised by Royston and District Churches Together, and attracted guests from Royston and the surrounding villages.

Organiser Margaret MacCormack said: “We had an absolutely amazing time. With children, parents, and grandparents we had about 160 people there, and they enjoyed a variety of games and craft activities.

“A lot of the costumes you see for Halloween are very gruesome, and go beyond being just a bit of scary fun. We wanted to celebrate God’s creation and everything that is light and bright about the world.”

Mayor of Royston, Cllr Lindsay Davidson, joined in the fun as youngsters had their faces painted and took part in dance lessons.
