THIEVES stole thousands of pounds of equipment from a Royston school last Wednesday. The thieves broke into St Mary's Catholic Primary School in Melbourn Road and took three digital projectors, worth £2,000 each, a laptop and a hold-all. Year 6 teacher Gavin Pearce said: "Because of the nature of the school, everything we do is for the children, I don't know who would do this. "The children have coped with this very well and we've all been positive about it. We are just carrying on as normal." A police spokesman said the incident happened at about 4.30am. Police are appealing for anyone with information to call on 0845 3300 222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
