The 13th annual Holy Trinity Church Meldreth Car Show has been a hailed a great success, despite it being a gloomy day.
It was held on Sunday in the churchyard to raise funds to maintain the fabric of the building – with almost 50 cars, some motorbikes and a couple of historic pedal bikes on show.
Churchwarden John Price told the Crow: “The range covered pre and post-war and classic cars, with a definite sporting flavour.
“The oldest was a 1913 Buick. There wer also some MGs and an iconic 1962 Lotus Elite, with its most distinctive feature of a highly innovative fibreglass monocoque construction.
“Alongside the cars, there was a display of classic prams in the church, including a 1928 Marmet Glyda.
“And many young children took the opportunity to ring a bell – one of the peal of eight most-rung church bells in the world. They watched via CCTV as it swung high up at the top of the bell tower.
“To round off the day, tea and cakes were served all afternoon and background music was provided by the Memphis Jazz Band.”
