The candidates for the Melbourn Parish Council by-election have been announced today.

The 12 candidates put themselves forward to stand for the eight parish council seats to be contested on Thursday, September 22.

This follows the resignation of eight councillors earlier this month after members of the public lost faith in the conduct of the authority.

Registered electors in the Melbourn parish will receive poll cards next week to remind them the election is taking place – a poll card is not needed to be able to vote, but you must be registered as an elector.

Anyone in Melbourn wishing to register to vote in the by-election should visit www.gov.uk/registertovote by Tuesday, September 6.

The polling station will be at the United Reformed Church Hall in Orchard Road, Melbourn. It will be open from 7am to 10pm.
