Different generations of village residents came together over a cup of tea last week.
The second Celebrating Ages tea party was held at Melbourn Village College, and saw Year 10 health and social care and catering students welcome villagers to the college for afternoon tea.
The event was arranged in conjunction with Melbourn Parish Council.
Ann Woods, food technology teacher at the college, said: “It is always pleasing to see our students rise to the occasion and show care and understanding towards a different generation and for the students to be thanked and praised by our visitors. In addition the afternoon contributed directly to their health and social care and catering coursework and will count towards their pledges.”
A traditional tea was served, with the students making the sandwiches and the catering students making sausage rolls. Melbourn Village College’s catering manager, Lynn Gregory and her staff produced Victoria sandwiches and shortbread.

Cllr Jose Hales, Melbourn’s district councillor and a member of Melbourn Parish Council, said: “Once again the staff and students of Melbourn Village College have surpassed themselves. The afternoon tea was a great success and the wonderful comments from the guests was proof of that.

“I would also like to extend a big thank you to Chas Dean, the manager of the Co-Op Melbourn, for his wonderful support with food and beverages, also Davey’s butchers in Meldreth for the supply of materials.
“It would seem the residents of Melbourn and surrounding villages have taken the college to their hearts and I can see this event becoming part of the college and villages social calendar for some time to come.”
