WE had all the usual pantomime tradition.

Obviously, that included audience participation and the bad jokes.

But this was the Royston drama group Cads' pantomime - and there is always something different.

This year's production, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, managed to work into the plot The Weakest Link and girl power and Jeff Beck's Hi-Ho Silver Lining. Well, it made a change from usual dwarves' off-to-work theme song.

This was a pantomime in which the enthusiasm of the cast was obvious and their playing of the characters certainly gave the audience an enjoyable evening.

It was, really, a cast performance from Lucy Rowe as Snow White and our hero, Craig Maddox as Tim, down to the dwarves and Angela Sassoli as the mirror, and Chloe Montrose and Pauline Rowe as pantomime Mrs Mops.

Paula McQueen was suitably evil as the Queen, and with heavy make-up and an ever-changing wardrobe, Stuart McQueen gave the role of the pantomime dame a new dimension.

Director Debbie Wilson can be proud of creating yet another success for Cads.

# Cads will be performing Snow White and the Seven Dwarves at Greneway School, Royston, tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm and on Saturday at 2pm and 7.30pm.

Tickets are available on the door for Friday evening, but performances on Saturday are almost sold out.
