THE Royston-based Cads drama group has gained success again at the Cambridge Drama Festival.

Michael Young took the Audience Appreciation Award for his directing of The Case of the Prince Formerly Known as Hamlet and the BBC Radio Cambridgeshire Sound Award went to Joe Daintrey.

It was the third year running that Cads had won the audience appreciation award.

Other nominations were for Craig Maddox as best actor and for Alix Cooper and Rowan Quilty in a cameo role.

Speaking after the awards, Michael said: "We're all delighted to have won these two prizes.

"What was great about this production was that we were able to use a mixture of younger actor and more experienced ones," he said.

"Our production team played a great part in our success."

Cads will be entering the Welwyn Drama Festival with a production of John Godber and Jane Thornton's Shakers Re-stirred.

The play, which will be directed by Debbie Rudgely, will be performed at the Campus West theatre on June 4.
