A parade of around 250 cadets and officers marched through Melbourn on Sunday to mark the 74th anniversary of the formation of the Air Training Corps.
Cadets from 2484 Bassingbourn lined up with other district squadrons for the parade through the village which was accompanied by a band.
The parade passed Moorlands Care Home where long-term resident Don Chinery was saluted by officers and given eyes left by the cadets to honour his wartime service in the RAF. Afterwards, a service was held in the parish church.
Cadet flight sergeant Becky Green said: “It was a great honour to be here with my squadron and parading through my home village.”
Onlooker Brenda Neaves said: “The cadets looked very smart and saluting the retired serviceman was very moving – it’s great that the community support these events.”
