A BY-ELECTION has been called at the end of next month to elect a new member of Royston Town Council.
The election comes after the death of Cllr Peter Lill, who died on his last day as Mayor of Royston last month.
Cllr Lill was re-elected to the town council in 2006.
The by-election in the Meridian ward will be taking place on Thursday, July 31.
At the town council elections in 2006 all seats in the ward were held by Conservatives, with new councillors Paul Grimes, the current Royston mayor, Robert Smith and Marguerite Phillips being elected.
