A campaign group to keep open a school and transition service for disabled children has been given support from local businesses.

The Save Meldreth Manor campaign group has handed out leaflets and hardcopy petitions to businesses in the surrounding villages.

These include The Hub in Melbourn, Kingsway Golf Cafe, Phillimore Garden Centre, Bury Lane Farm Shop, Play Barn Cafe, Fieldgate Farm Shop, Daveys Butchers The British Queen, Meldreth Post Office and Village Shop, Cambridge Motel, and The Plough.

If you would like to help with raising the profile of the campaign to save the Fenny Lane school, then email SaveMeldrethManor@gmail.com.

The campaign currently has more than 2,600 members on Facebook, and the campaign has been retweeted by the likes of celebrities Peter Andre, Nick Frost, members of the band Erasure and Star Wars actor and television presenter Warwick Davis.

Disability charity Scope will close the site in March next year, unless a financially viable option is presented.

The consultation period for people to have their say has been extended until Friday, October 2, and people should direct all feedback to project manager Kathryn Jefford on consultation.meldreth@scope.org.uk or by calling 07788 898083.
