Builders removed after wolf-whistle complaint
TWO workmen have been removed from the 400,000 revamp of Royston’s Fish Hill Square after sexual harassment claims.
A man living in the area made the complaint after claiming two men working on the site “wolf-whistled” at his wife.
The aggrieved husband contacted North Herts District Council, asking them to inform contractor Maylim that if sexual harassment continued, he would take the matter further.
He claimed his wife felt intimidated every time she left home
North Hertfordshire District Council referred the matter to Maylim.
David Scholes, North Herts District Council’s strategic director for planning housing and enterprise said: “The council was contacted and concern raised about the conduct of builders working on the Fish Hill Square enhancement.
“The council has since asked the contractor for the Fish Hill Square enhancement (Maylim) to investigate this matter.”
