BUNTINGFORD Town Council's new budget shows that the council tax precept has dropped slightly.
The town council's budget for 2008-09 was approved at last Thursday's council meeting.
It shows that the precept - the amount of money received by the town council from council tax contri-butions - has dropped to £216,849 from £216,902 in 2007-08.
Costs of salaries for town council employ-ees have risen 3 per cent, as has income from rental of rooms at the Manor House.
Cllr Stan Bull said: "This budget shows a drop in expenditure, which is a first since I have been involved with the council.
"Everybody involved in its production deserves congratulations for that.
