THE ENGLISH civil war was brought to life in spectacular fashion at a Royston school this week.

Steve and Jo Parish, from the Past Alive group, visited Greneway School last week to re-enact the English Civil War with Year 8 pupils, and also give Year 7 pupils the chance to experience medieval life.

Kathy Galley, leader of History at Greneway, said: "These days are fully interactive and give our students first hand experience of life during both these periods of history.

Pupils at the school got dressed up to mark the occasion, and were able to handle authentic artefacts and re-enact scenes from medieval times.

"They have so many questions that we always run out of time," said Kathy.

"Steve and Jo are excellent at involving everyone and also very authentic in their manner, dress and speech. We had an excellent two days of history lessons," she said.
