ROYSTON and Buntingford's town twinners battled it out on the Boules pitch to celebrate Bastille Day.

The match took place at the Green Man, Royston, and saw the Buntingford group kitted out in natty red berets.

A spokesman for the twinning association of Royston said: "The Buntingford group were the best dressed, although Royston won more games in the Boules competition. Their secret is regular practice."

The Royston twinning association has also elected a new president. Adrian Jones has replaced long-standing president David Gray, who retired at the groups AGM on June 17.

The group's next social event is a day out at Rutland Water, including a cruise on the Rutland Belle and a pub lunch. Some spaces are still available at a cost of £30 per person, including the coach fare. To book a place, contact Adrian Jones on 01763 231433 or email adrian@sallad.co.uk.
