ONE of Crow Country’s most unique annual events took place with great success last weekend.
The Ashwell Book Weekend, which is in its 11th year, raised at total of 3,770 for the St Mary’s Church restoration appeal.
Carloyn Lush from the church said: “It was very well attended, as usual. Hundreds of books of all types were donated over the five days beforehand and were sorted by a band of volunteers into the various categories.
“The total exceeded last year’s by 400, which was a pleasing result at the end of a pleasant weekend.”
