ONE of Crow Country’s most unique annual events took place with great success last weekend.

The Ashwell Book Weekend, which is in its 11th year, raised at total of £3,770 for the St Mary’s Church restoration appeal.

Carloyn Lush from the church said: “It was very well attended, as usual. Hundreds of books of all types were donated over the five days beforehand and were sorted by a band of volunteers into the various categories.

“The total exceeded last year’s by £400, which was a pleasing result at the end of a pleasant weekend.”
