THE North Herts Book Festival will begin in Royston with an exceedingly good evening.

Sharad and Jane Keskar will be giving a talk on the life and work of Rudyard Kipling, at Royston Library on Thursday, March 6.

Kipling's daughter Elsie Bambridge lived at Wimpole Hall for many years.

Both Sharad and Jane are members of the Kipling ­Society.

* A second-hand book sale will be held at Royston Museum on Saturday, March 8.

* Les Baker, the editor of The Crow, will be giving a talk on the Pleasures of Journalism at Royston library on Thursday, March 13.

He will be talking about journalists as writers and the way they approached important events in history.

The talk ranges from Charles Dickens to Hunter S Thompson.
