THE bomb squad descended on Royston to deal with an unexploded flower pot.

Police were called to a house in Baldock Road, Royston, at 3.35pm yesterday (Thursday) following reports of a suspected unexploded bomb having been unearthed in a back garden.

But it turned out the residents weren't in any danger.

A spokesman for Herts Police said: "Specialist police officers and the Explosives Ordnance Disposal team attended the address to identify the object and ensure the safety of people living in the local area.

"The object was quickly identified as a flower pot and all officers left the scene."
