A BMX star with two Guinness World Records to his name dazzled audiences at Melbourn and Foxton primary schools when he carried out a demonstration to promote active travel for children.
Two workshops followed Matti Hemmings’ demo and children tried out basic tricks, which prompted lots of laughing and excitement – and requests to have another go.
The Department for Transport is working to encourage children to walk, scooter or cycle to school, and this initiative was delivered by charity Sustrans.
County councillor Susan van de Ven said: “Cycling is definitely a joyous activity, in addition to its obvious good health and transport benefits.
“More activities will follow and it was great to learn how many children already walk, scooter or cycle to school.”
