WE MAY be in the depths of winter, but the Royston in Bloom committee is already preparing for spring.

Bulbs, which will hopefully flourish in the New Year, have been planted at locations around town.

Angela Louch, chairman of the Royston in Bloom committee, said: "We are all looking forward to seeing a brighter Royston come the spring.

"Plantings have taken place round the new memorial tree to soldiers of The Anglian Regiment in the Priory Gardens, within the grounds of Royston Hospital opposite the day and dining rooms, and in the beds outside the health centre and town hall."

Sponsorship for the purchase of bulbs was raised at the farmers' market and Angela said the team was "very grateful" for the generous support of the citizens of Royston.

Helpers from the Royston time bank, including 92-year old Chris Christon, joined members of the committee in planting bulbs at the Coombs Community Centre.

The Royston in Bloom team is always looking for new assignments to improve the visual impact of the town and is happy to receive suggestions and comments.

Contact them via Royston Town Hall.
