THREE pupils from a school in Royston have won the Black Pig Creative Award for business and education creativity.
It has been set up so that pupils can put the award on their CV and college applications as a recognised mark of creative excellence.
A number of schools in the area took part, with participating pupils being asked to produce a creative piece that represents the topic of branding their region.
Three pupils from Greneway School, Molly Whittaker, Melanie Coates and Katherine Palmer, won the Key Stage 3 category with their entry entitled 'Puzzled' - a colourful poster that featured activities and interesting places that people could visit.
Judges said that it was chosen for its broad scope of activities for tourists and added that they were also impressed with their thorough research on the project.
The three talented youngsters all received a family pass for an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the BBC Television Centre, where they will visit the BBC news room and the centre's interactive studios.
Black Pig managing director Sarah-Jane Higgins said: "The quality of all the entrants was extremely high and the judges commented on how difficult the judging was. We are always amazed by the fresh ideas and enthusiasm that the students display."
The Black Pig Creative Award is also being backed by the organisation Work with Schools, which helps businesses and schools to work alongside each other.
Carole McAlpine, of Work with Schools, said: "The creative award is an excellent way for businesses to support and develop creativity in schools.
