MELBOURN Parish Council has called for the removal of plastic recycling bins in a car park.
The decision comes after months of rubbish being found scattered around the High Street car park and unsuccessfully asking South Cambridgeshire District council to fix the bins to the ground.
Councillors said Sunday night was the last straw when the bins were tipped over and rubbish was blown some 50 yards up the High Street.
At this week's full council meeting, Cllr Bob Trimble said: "We have been asking for the bins to be fixed down and a year later still nothing has been done.
"I have fought for the bins to stay, but now I think they should be removed."
While Cllr Janice Guest was against removing the bins, Cllr Clive Purbrook said: "They are a nuisance for the people living close to the car park
"They are a magnet for vandalism."
A letter will now be sent to the district council and environmental health urging them to remove the plastic recycling bins.
