£14,000 raised for charity
MORE than 3,000 bikers rode into town for a club’s 25th anniversary show.
Royston and District Motorcycle Club (RDMCC) held its annual showcase last Wednesday, and 3,200 visitors made their way to Meldreth Equestrian Centre for the event.
Show co-ordinator Steve Coningsby said: “We had the best ever turn out for a show.
“The conditions were spot on, with dry days leading up to the show and bright sunshine throughout the day. The whole show is about the bikes.”
The bikers helped to raise about £14,000, breaking previous records.
All money raised will be divided between charities including the East Anglian Air Ambulance and SCOPE, the organisation which runs Meldreth Manor School.
Mr Coningsby added: “We couldn’t run the show without the support of our club members, Charlie and the staff from Meldreth Equestrian Centre, and the Manor school staff. Each year they do a brilliant job, and next year we will do it all again.”
