VIDEO footage appearing to show a big cat on the prowl has been captured.

Two videos - both of which are available on our website, www.roystoncrow24.co.uk - have been sent in by eagle-eyed readers.

Chris Dingley, 28, of Monks Walk, Buntingford, captured images of what appeared to be a black cat on his mobile phone after spotting it in fields near Hawkins Hall Farm, Datchworth, earlier this month.

He said: "It was about 6.30am and I was on my way to collect some tools.

"I saw this big black animal in a field so I got out and had a look. It was initially about 30 feet away from me, but as I got out it moved deeper into the field.

"You could tell by the way it moved it was definitely a cat, but the grass in the field was about seven or eight feet high, so there's no way it was a domestic one.

"I got the video of it sitting there for about a minute, before it moved into the hedge."

Darrell Stanley, owner of EZCCTV, captured a cat on closed circuit film walking across the car park of the Wagon and Horses pub, Steeple Morden, in August 2005.

Mr Stanley said: "My sister was running the Wagon and Horses at the time, and we installed CCTV there. This was caught on the film at about 1.30am.

"The camera triggered and caught the cat walking out from behind one of the parked cars. This camera is an infra red camera, therefore this image although looking like a light coloured cat is more than likely a dark colour."

Sightings of the creature have continued to flood in this week.

Kevin Buck believes he saw it in Sandon while fishing with a friend at the village pond.

He said: "As we sat on the bank something on the opposite side moved and caught my eye

"As I looked up I saw the cat standing on the opposite bank of the pond no more than 30 feet from us.

"My friend and I stood up, and it looked directly at us and moved away slowly. It was clearly visible and there is no way that either of us could mistake it for a normal cat, dog, cow, sheep or anything else."
