AIR Cadets from Bassingbourn enjoyed a day out at RAF Mildenhall.

The cadets, from the 2484 squadron, visited the US Air Force 100th Air Refuelling Wing, whose jobs include aerial refuelling, special operations, air mobility, reconnaissance and intelligence for US Forces based in Europe.

Cadet Ben Johnson said: "It was a brilliant visit. I enjoyed seeing the tankers and the fire engines which were massive. The Americans make great pizza and it was strange to see petrol on sale at 80 cents a gallon in England."

After a tour of the base, the cadets were able to see first hand the day-to-day working of an American airbase, view the aircraft, and meet the crews.
