A CRUMPLED safety barrier outside Roman Way School in Royston has been repaired. The barrier in Burns Road was damaged when it was hit by a vehicle. The case was taken up by Cllr Bill Davidson and Cllr Fiona Greenwood Hill. Cllr Davidson said: "If another councillor took the trouble to contact the appropriate authorities, as we did, he might have got things done instead of just talking about it." This was a political broadside at Cllr Robert Inwood who had been reported in another newspaper on calling for a campaign to have the barrier repaired. Cllr Inwood, however, did not bother to contact The Crow about his campaign. The barrier was repaired three days after Cllr Davidson and Cllr Greenwood Hill had met with a council highways engineer. The two councillors will now be working to see further traffic calming measures introduced in the area. Cllr Davidson said: "We are currently working to try and get the appropriate authorities to do something about the speeding and traffic issues, especially in the vicinity of Roysia and Roman Way schools.
