A dementia home in Barley has donated £500 to the Alzheimer’s Society after reaching the final for a national award.

Judges from the Pinder Healthcare Design Awards battled through the snow last week to get to Margaret House, to view the home ahead of their final decision on which of the three finalists would win the overall award.

While at the home off Church End they presented the team with a cheque for £500 for reaching the final – which Margaret House has chosen to donate to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Margaret House’s Thomas Kelly said: “We are really pleased to be in the final, and it is even better that the Alzheimer’s Society – which is a charity close to our hearts – was also able to benefit.

“We are keeping our fingers crossed now as the winner is announced in less than two weeks’ time.”
