Dads and grandads of children who go to Barley and Barkway First Schools enjoyed a day in the classrooms this week as a special post-Father’s Day treat.

They worked very hard and took part in all the activities which included circle time and talking about change in nursery and reception, making globes and computing in Year 3 and 4 and attending grammar sessions and programming BeeBots in Year 1 and 2.

Dads enjoyed a roast dinner, took part in modern dance with coach Stephen Sapsed and joined in in collective worship at the end of the day.

Mike Coomes – dad and regular volunteer at Barkway – said: “It was a fantastic day and skills were learned from teachers and children alike!”

Mrs Sharon Brown, federation headteacher of the two first schools, commented on how “successful a day it was for everyone involved” and said that “the excitement and enthusiasm was palpable.”
