With the start of autumn upon us, the Apex Boys played their sixth league match of the season on a sunny yet windy morning.

From the off it was clear that Apex Youth were not playing to the best of their abilities.

They did manage to maintain the higher proportion of ball possession against Sawbridgeworth Blues. Despite possession, the boys of Sawbridgeworth Blues did not make things easy. Their style of play was fast and furious making this an exciting game to watch.

Whilst the two teams battled hard, it was Apex Youth who gained the first goal close to 19 minutes into the first half by Reece Banham, followed shortly by another one minute later, again by Reece.

Despite many further close calls, Apex Youth simply could not get the ball in the net due to Sawbridgeworth Blues' superb defending and goalkeeping skills.

Only in the closing minutes of the first half did Apex break through once more to gain their third goal before the whistle blew, Caleb Gray having made a great thrust forward through the Sawbridgeworth defence.

The second half held no further goals for Apex nor Sawbridgeworth despite many close moments by both teams. At the end of the game the score remained 3-0 in favour of Apex Youth.

The second half also witnessed an injury to Apex Youth defender, Genit Abazi. Our sincere thanks go out to those parents of Sawbridgeworth who swiftly came to his aid and remained with him until medical help arrived. Get better soon Genit. There is a hole in the Apex defence without you.
