A carer has received an Adult Learning Award after taking part in a creative writing course.
Victoria Wells, from Royston, cares for her elderly mother on a daily basis but was able to take part in creative writing and corsage-making courses thanks to charity Carers in Hertfordshire.
Miss Wells felt her confident and self-esteem visibly grew as she progressed through the course. She said: “I just want to say thank, I have had such a happy year. I do so appreciate these fantastic opportunities.”
She received her award in the Arts, Media and Publishing category at a ceremony at the University of Hertfordshire on May 23.
Carers in Hertfordshire’s Development and Learning service provides free opportunities for carers to learn in small groups and overcome the barriers in adult education they often face because of their responsibilities.
