Author and illustrator Angela Patchett was a special guest at a village book weekend.
The 14th annual Ashwell Book Weekend took place at St Mary’s Church in village on Saturday and Sunday October 5 and 6.
Now a fixture on the village calender, the weekend sees a team of volunteers collect and sort hundreds of donated second-hand books, which are then put on sale in the church.
Mrs Patchett, who is known for children’s books such as Angela Angel and the Magic Chair, Misty Bear, and Wishing, read from some of her books to an excited audience of children who attended the weekend.
Organisers Karen Rogers and Caroline Feast declared the weekend “a great success”, and £3,140 was raised which will go towards the Church Restoration Fund.
