BUDDING artists were out to impress at Roysia School as pupils took part in the annual art week.

Every child had the opportunity to work alongside professional artists on various projects and learn and develop new techniques.

Each school year focused on a different area of art, with Year 5 running a fused glass workshop, Year 6 learning the skills involved in printmaking, Year 7 running a ceramics workshop, and Year 8 concentrating on sculptures.

By the end of the week the children had some outstanding work to show for their efforts.

Teacher Elaine Paton said: "It is great for the pupils to have first-hand contact with artists, to learn what their work involves and to realise that, although art as a subject is very enjoyable, for many people it can also be the route to a very good career.
