Apex Youth 7 Letchworth GCE Reds 2
Under-13s Division Three
WITH rain threatening, Apex Youth played their 10th league game of the season on home turf at Stewards School against Letchworth GCE Reds.
Apex were slow to start and this cost them as Letchworth took the lead after just five minutes.
This early lead woke up the Apex boys who picked themselves up and begun playing some better football.
Three minutes after Letchworth took the lead Apex equalised, only to be followed by another one minute later and a third just moments after this.
Six minutes of battling between both teams then commenced during which time Apex took the challenge to their opponents and put two more goals away before the end of the first half.
Lewis Fry had decent efforts to increase the lead following the break, and did so when one effort took a deflection into the net.
Two minutes later an unfortunate defensive move saw Letchworth awarded with a penalty and although 'keeper Stefano made a great leap for the spot kick it nestled into the right hand corner.
Letchworth were never going to get back into the tie and with just minutes left they conceded again as Apex wrapped the game up 7-2.
The secretary's award for best performance went to Kalvin Stocker for a superb role he played when stepping into the defence unexpectedly.
